2021 NFL Draft: Alabama, Ohio State load up two-round mock draft
2021 NFL Draft 1st round: 10th pick
The Dallas Cowboys struck gold in the 2020 NFL Draft when they were able to get both CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs with their top two picks.
The defense in Dallas still needs a ton of attention.
The Cowboys let go of defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, so they are going to be running a different scheme on that side of the ball for 2021 and beyond.
No matter who is calling the shots defensively, the Cowboys will need to make adjustments to the secondary and there might not be a better situation for them than looking Patrick Surtain II straight in the face with their top draft choice.
Surtain is a legacy player whose father was an excellent cornerback in his time in the NFL, but Surtain II looks like he could wind up being one of the better man cover corners in the NFL sooner rather than later.
Although his athleticism doesn’t always shine on tape, Surtain is rarely bested and has been consistently good for the last three seasons for the Crimson Tide.
He is NFL-ready and would immediately become the Cowboys’ CB1.
