Talented Notre Dame TE Tommy Tremble declares for 2021 NFL Draft
Notre Dame tight end Tommy Tremble enters the 2021 NFL Draft and stands out as a great target for teams in the middle rounds.
Somewhat surprisingly, Notre Dame tight end Tommy Tremble announced his intention to enter the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday. “After seeking both professional and personal advice and carefully evaluating my options, I have made the decision to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft,” Tremble wrote on Twitter.
With his lack of production as a receiver, Tremble does not get much recognition. Declaring early comes as a bit of surprise but make no mistake about it, Tremble is a good football player who has a bright future at the next level.
Tremble lined up across many positions for Notre Dame the last two seasons, primarily showcasing his ability as a blocker. He is a tough and aggressive blocker who shows impressive natural power at the point of attack. He is quick off of the ball and moves extremely well in space.
Notre Dame used Tremble primarily in a fullback/H-back role in 2020 where his blocking skills were key. He did play a bit of tight end but was never allowed to fully prove himself as an impact receiver in the passing game, catching only 19 passes for 212 yards throughout the entire 2020 season.
That being said, Tremble is a smooth athlete who shows the ability to separate from the defense in the middle of the field. He has a wide catch radius, snatches the ball out of the air with ease and shows the ability to create after the catch. While his lack of production in college is less than ideal, the skills are there for Tremble to be successful in the passing game at the next level.
We already know that he is a great blocker and the upside is there for Tremble to be an impact player in the passing game. He is unlikely to receive a ton of hype as a 2021 NFL Draft, but whoever ends up drafting Tremble will be excited about their addition.
