Green Bay Packers should target Rondale Moore in the 2021 NFL Draft
By Pablo Rosero
Drafting the Purdue junior wideout should be the priority for the Green Bay Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft.
During Aaron Rodgers’ career with the Green Bay Packers, the team has never drafted a wideout in the first, but Rondale Moore should change that come April.
When you watch the Packers on national television, it feels as though all their offensive weapons were highly sought after coming out of high school. The truth, as you’ve probably heard a million times now, is that the only one who was selected in the first round is tight end Mercedes Lewis, who wasn’t even drafted by the cheeseheads.
After a season where Rodgers threw for 48 touchdowns and added another three on the ground, he is more than likely headed to his second MVP award. But, if the Packers want to extend his career, or get Jordan Love some high profile weapons in the future, the team should look no further than Purdue’s star wideout Rondale Moore.
As it stands the Packers will have to make free-agent decisions on running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, tight end Robert Tonyan, and wideout Allen Lazard, among a host of other players.
Those four guys won’t come cheap after this season, and with the Packers drafting Boston College running back AJ Dillon in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, it’s hard to imagine the team bringing back both their running backs. Tonyan, who scored 11 touchdowns on the season, should be the first player the Packers resign and Lazard second.

The priority for the Packers this offseason, especially after the season Rodgers just had, is accumulating young offensive playmakers that can prepare for the inevitable transition from Rodgers to Love while remaining in the same Matt Lafleur offense. So who is the best wideout in this draft that they can land in their draft area and pair with Davante Adams, and why is it Rondale Moore?
Why the Green Bay Packers should target Rondale Moore
The Green Bay offense and the San Francisco 49ers offenses are very similar as both come from the Shanahan west coast coaching tree. The key difference is the fact that the Packers have Rodgers who can push the ball deep down the field, but it still is an offense that relies heavily on the run game.
Thanks to Adams and Tonyan having career seasons, the Packers’ offense was able to fire from all cylinders and once again show why Rodgers is considered one of the game’s greats. But the one aspect the team is missing is something the 49ers have in both Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. That piece is a wideout who can attack you both vertically, deep down the field, and horizontally, running the jet sweep.
That’s where Moore fits into this offense.
At 5-foot-9 181 pounds, Moore isn’t the biggest guy, but once the ball is in his hands he’s the equivalent of a cannonball being fired. According to Garrett Stepien of 247 Sports, in high school, Moore recorded a 40 yard dash time of 4.33 seconds. That is Tyreek Hill level speed, and if the Packers are able to add that caliber of athlete to this current offense then even the Kansas City Chiefs should worry about not being the best offense in the league.
