Jacksonville Jaguars: Five ideal coaching fits to pair with Trevor Lawrence
By Kyle Edmond
Dabo Swinney
What more is there to accomplish at Clemson other than more National Championships? Dabo Swinney has already been at the top of the college football world twice and has appeared in four championships. If he’s ready for a new test, then the NFL could be it and he could do it with a familiar face.
Swinney and Trevor Lawrence have had a lot of success at Clemson, winning the National Championship in Lawrence’s freshman season, returning in his sophomore season and then making it to the playoffs this year. In fact, Swinney has led Clemson to a bowl game in each of his 13 seasons, including winning at least one bowl game in eight of those years. But why leave something so great?
The straight forward answer is ego. He’s already become one of the best head coaches in all of college football, but what about the NFL? Could he see the same success there? It’s the same reason why Nick Saban tried the jump. Pete Carroll, Butch Davis, Lou Holtz, Bill Walsh, even Steve Spurrier. They all tried the NFL scene and Swinney could be next, but he would demand a high price tag from the Jacksonville Jaguars to do it.
