Jacksonville Jaguars: Five ideal coaching fits to pair with Trevor Lawrence
By Kyle Edmond
Jim Harbaugh
Entering his last season under contract with Michigan, there have been rumors of an extension for Jim Harbaugh with the Wolverines. However, those talks seem to have stalled out as Harbaugh appears to be seeking a return to the NFL. Known for basking in the limelight, Harbaugh could be intrigued by the notion of joining Trevor Lawrence and the young Jacksonville Jaguars roster in 2021.
Harbaugh has struggled of late in Ann Arbor, going just 1-4 in Bowl Games with the last win coming in 2015 as well as being obliterated year after year by Ohio State. Being an alum, he’d like to leave on his terms and going back to the NFL seems like the perfect way out.
Harbaugh last coached in the NFL in 2014 after spending four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Taking over a team that hadn’t had a winning record in nine years, Harbaugh quickly turned them into a 13-3 team in his first season. In each of his first three seasons, he made it to at least the NFC Championship, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2021. His worst season ended up being his last with an 8-8 record.
The track record for Harbaugh is impressive, especially at the NFL level. With the situation at Michigan souring, he could be looking for his own way out. Taking one of the most appealing jobs in the NFL could be a nice way to move on.
