Five ideal head coaches for the Jacksonville Jaguars to pair with Trevor Lawrence

The Jacksonville Jaguars have locked up the first selection in the 2021 NFL Draft and with it, a new face to the franchise in Trevor Lawrence. While Lawrence will be a pivotal piece in turning around the Jaguars’ organization, the head coach will arguably be even more important.

For one, the Jaguars will need a head coach who can assist in changing the culture in Jacksonville. Since 2008, the Jacksonville Jaguars have had just one winning season, going 10-6 in 2017. Now, that isn’t too long ago and they were only one win away from a Super Bowl appearance, but in the long run, there needs to be a new mindset.

Luckily, this position is one of the more appealing in football. Not only do the Jaguars have the first pick, assuming that it is Trevor Lawrence, but they also have a strong running game in James Robinson as well as weapons out wide in D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault. On top of that, the Jags have a second first-round pick and plenty of draft capital moving forward.

The one downside is that the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars has made it known that he will be controlling the roster. This could make it a bit difficult to land a solid general manager, but most head coaches don’t have control of the roster anyway.

While the details like that can be ironed out later on, the position with the Jaguars is still one of the more appealing openings in the league. It could be the perfect first opportunity for a first-time head coach, a revival road for a former NFL head coach or enough to pull a college coach up to the professional ranks.

The weapons already on the roster and the pick of any player from the draft, again most likely Trevor Lawrence, makes this roster pretty close to ready to roll for whoever walks in. The question, though, is who will that be?
