Pick 5 – Cincinnati Bengals

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Oregon. Penei Sewell. OT. 5. player. 56

The Cincinnati Bengals looked a lot better this year than last, especially when Joe Burrow was healthy and even when he went down, they were able to top the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the injury to Burrow should be enough of an indication of where the Bengals need to look in this draft, the offensive line.

Penei Sewell has long been considered the best offensive tackle in this class and should be the target for the Bengals. With the quarterback frenzy ahead of them, Sewell falls to the Bengals at the fifth pick and should slot in at left tackle, moving Jonah Williams to right tackle if he can stay healthy.

Williams has had an injury-riddled couple of years since being drafted by Cincinnati, but if he can stay healthy then he and Sewell should form a strong outside to the offensive line to protect Burrow and keep their franchise quarterback from sustaining more serious injuries.

Pick 6 – Philadelphia Eagles

54. Alabama. Patrick Surtain II. player. CB. 6. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The bad news for the Philadelphia Eagles is that they were the worst team in the league’s worst division. The better news is that Jalen Hurts has looked impressive at times and seems to have righted the ship in Philadelphia, at least for the time being.

With that box checked, the Eagles can go back to building their team back to the Super Bowl Champion form of just a few years ago. To do that, they will need to add another cornerback to play opposite Darius Slay. They currently have Nickell Robey-Coleman there, but he’s more of a slot corner.

Patrick Surtain II can come into Philly and immediately have an impact. At Alabama, he has been known for his coverage skills, especially being able to knock balls down, which will be a huge upgrade for the Eagles’ defense.  The one spot for Surtain to improve upon in the NFL will be his interception total, picking off just four passes over 39 games at Alabama.
