Another massive performance by Ohio State running back Trey Sermon takes his 2021 NFL Draft stock to the next level.

Ohio State running back Trey Sermon was absolutely incredible once again on Friday night. He was a consistent force on the ground for the Buckeyes, piling up 193 rushing yards on 31 carries, including an impressive 32-yard touchdown run to kick off the scoring for Ohio State in the first quarterback. Sermon’s performance against Clemson was a major reason why Ohio State will be playing for a National Championship and his performance has his 2021 NFL Draft stock on the rise.

Including his incredible performance in the Big Ten Championship Game, Sermon has piled up 524 rushing yards and three touchdowns in his last two games. While quarterback Justin Fields was incredible against Clemson, he struggled in the Big Ten Championship Game and Ohio State leaned heavily on Sermon to keep the offense going.

Now, it is difficult to see Sermon rising to the top of the 2021 NFL Draft class at the running back position but he is certainly solidifying himself a spot near the top. Sermon is showing impressive ball carrier vision, seemingly always finding the hole no matter where it appears. He also displays an impressive combination of quickness and power that makes him a dangerous player in the open field.

Sermon has a knack for finding space and shows impressive natural burst through the hole. He is also elusive in the open field, making defenders miss with quick and sharp movements and getting back up to speed quickly. Sermon is also a powerful finisher who is always working to pick up extra yards, keeping his feet moving and maintaining balance through contact extremely well.

When the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around, Sermon is unlikely to be one of the first few running backs off of the board. He is unlikely to catch guys like Najee Harris, Travis Etienne and Javonte Williams, but should be in the mix immediately after that top three. When it is all said and done, Sermon is working his way into becoming a possible Day 2 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
