Updated 2021 NFL Draft order following Week 16 Sunday action
Updating the 2021 NFL Draft order after the Sunday slate of Week 16 games
We saw some major changes in the 2021 NFL Draft order on Sunday as a few Week 16 matchup shook up the early part of the order. That being said, the very top did not change at all as the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets still hold the first and second picks. The Jags’ loss to the Chicago Bears coupled with the Jets’ win over the Cleveland Browns does secure the first overall pick for the Jaguars. The Jets are also locked in at No. 2.
After that, it starts to get very interesting. Let’s take a look at the up-to-date complete first-round 2021 NFL Draft order after the Sunday slate of Week 16 games. This 2021 NFL Draft order comes via Tankathon.

Besides the Jaguars locking down the first pick, the biggest story here is probably the Miami Dolphins’ rise into the top three. With the Houston Texans falling to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the Dolphins currently pick directly after the Jags and Jets. The Laremy Tunsil trade is the gift that just keeps giving for Miami.
If this holds true through next week, it will be extremely interesting to see what the Dolphins do with that third pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Bolstering their offensive line with Penei Sewell would certainly make some sense, but this stands out as a prime trade-down spot for the team. There will likely be teams looking to come up and snag a quarterback at that spot and the Dolphins could get a premium return for moving down.
It is also interesting to see the Eagles picking there at No. 6. If Philadelphia finds themselves picking early enough, will they make a move for another quarterback? Giving up on both Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts may seem crazy, but the Eagles may not be picking this high again anytime soon. If there is a quarterback available that they love, it is certainly possible that they pounce.
With only one week remaining, the 2021 NFL Draft order is certainly starting to take shape. However, a lot can change in one week, especially with so many teams in the top 10 having similar records. One thing is for sure, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
