Jacksonville Jaguars 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft: Lawrence locked up
Round 1, 1st Overall
The Jacksonville Jaguars have suffered through years of draft busts and free-agent failures at the quarterback position that has all lead to this moment. With the first overall pick of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jags select Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence is the most hyped quarterback since Andrew Luck back in 2012 and for good reason. All he’s done since stepping onto campus at Clemson is win. He has gone a remarkable 32-1 as a starter and helped the Tigers bring home a championship as a freshman in 2018.
He is everything every NFL club looks for in a franchise quarterback. He stands 6-foot-6 and tips the scales at a lean 220 pounds. He has an effortless way of throwing the football as it just flies off his hand and shows a pro-ready understanding of when and how to throw certain passes depending on coverages.
Lawrence has displayed terrific touch, accuracy, and velocity throughout his career and is only getting better with time. Each season he has played with Clemson he has improved in terms of his completion percentage as well as his passer rating, showing growth and maturity along the way.
There are a lot of teams that have had a rough go of it in terms of quarterback play but I don’t think anybody can quite match who the Jacksonville Jaguars have fielded for the last 10 years.
Trevor Lawrence is a guy who can finally give Duval their first true franchise quarterback since the days of Mark Brunell and he instantly brings excitement and hope for the future which the fan base desperately needs and deserves. This pick is a no-brainer and could give the Jacksonville Jaguars a quarterback they can build around for the next 20 years.
