TRADE: Patriots trade day three pick to 49ers for QB Jimmy Garoppolo

The Patriots reunite with Jimmy Garoppolo in this scenario, and I think there is an especially likely chance of that happening if Josh McDaniels doesn’t get hired for a different head-coaching job.

Even if he does, the Pats could look to the familiar face in Garoppolo to be their successor for Tom Brady, what they initially planned on him being years ago.

The Pats would be taking on a good-sized salary for Garoppolo, which is why I think they could get him on the cheap.

In addition to picking up Garoppolo, the Patriots go out and get themselves a dynamic playmaker at the tight end/receiver position in Kyle Pitts.

Pitts is a nightmare for defensive players to have to match up against. He is too big for defensive backs, way too quick for linebackers, and he has virtually no limit to his catch radius.

He is a playmaker in space and can blow by defenders with his combination of speed and strength.

The Patriots need to upgrade their weaponry in the passing game. Pitts has 17 touchdowns in his last 21 college games and has proven himself to be absolutely dominant at times.

Bringing him into the fold with a veteran quarterback, Pitts could be an offensive rookie of the year candidate. He is capable of taking in a high volume of targets just like Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
