Florida WR Kadarius Toney keeps soaring up 2021 NFL Draft boards
Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney is an impact playmaker who is soaring up 2021 NFL Draft boards.
Through the first three years of his college career, Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney was a gimmicky player who the Gators would consistently look to scheme touches in space. He played slot receiver, running back and wildcat quarterback as Florida did everything that they could to let him make plays in space. Toney was solid in this role, but his ability to make a consistent impact on the offensive side of the ball was limited.
This season, Toney has taken his game to the next level, becoming a much more complete player for the Gators. Toney is now a true wide receiver who has become an impact route runner and incredible playmaker with the ball in his hands. NFL teams have to be taking notice and his 2021 NFL Draft stock is going to soar.
Toney has a special combination of speed and quickness that makes him a threat to score from anywhere on the field. He shakes defenders with ease when facing man-to-man coverage and has shown the ability to find soft spots against zone. Once the ball is in his hands, Toney kicks it into high gear and often leaves the defense in his dust.
He is an extremely elusive player who can shake defenders, but Toney also shows special contact balance for a wide receiver. He does a great job of staying low and simply keeping his balance through contact. Toney has a knack for keeping his feet at all times and seems to immediately gear up to full speed as soon as he shakes the defender. Make no mistake about it, Toney is one of the best playmakers with the ball in his hands in the 2021 NFL Draft class.
The 2021 NFL Draft is loaded with talent at the wide receiver position and that could cause some players to slip a bit more than they really should. That being said, Toney has a special overall skill-set that must be taken seriously. After dominating SEC competition all year long, Toney undoubtedly has a chance to be a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
