Five 2021 NFL Draft prospects Jacksonville Jaguars can’t live without
Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern
Due to the Jalen Ramsey trade with the Los Angeles Rams, the Jaguars have an extra first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft class. A quarterback will be the selection with that first pick, but Northwestern offensive lineman Rashawn Slater stands out as their ideal target with their later first-round selection.
Slater was an impact offensive tackle in college who used a combination of quickness, power and physicality to consistently dominate opposing defenders. If the Jaguars lose Cam Robinson in free agency this offseason, they will need to find a viable replacement for him and Slater stands out as an obvious fit. Even if they bring Robinson back, Slater’s aggressive style would allow for a successful over inside.
Simply put, Slater would be an ideal target for the Jacksonville Jaguars with their late first-round 2021 NFL Draft selection.
Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State
If Slater is not available when the Jaguars go on the clock with their late first-round pick, tight end Pat Freiermuth stands out as an obvious choice for the team. Tight end stands out as a major position of need for this team, Kyle Pitts will likely be long off of the board and Freiermuth is an impact offensive player who is a worthy first-round prospect.
Freiermuth is a big and athletic target who is a matchup nightmare in the middle of the field. He is a tough and physical receiver who shines in contested-catch situations and has a combination of speed, size and power that makes him incredibly difficult to bring down in space. He is also a strong run blocker who could come in and make an immediate impact at the inline position.
Adding a talented tight end prospect like Friermuth as a safety valve for their new young quarterback would certainly make sense for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
