Seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft for the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the midst of a rebuild and that continues in this seven-round NFL mock draft. After having three selections over the first 42 picks of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Jags will have four picks in the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.

What is expected to be a full rebuild, new staff and all, Jacksonville is essentially starting from square one. Last year’s three top picks consisted of a cornerback, edge rusher and a wide receiver, leaving the rest of the roster to be almost a blank slate.

James Robinson has been a nice surprise for the Jaguars this year and D.J. Chark has shown improvement. There are some bright spots, but the reality is that almost every position could use an upgrade, so with that we start with the cornerstone of the Jacksonville rebuild, the quarterback.

Round 1, Pick 2

1. Scouting Report. QB. Justin Fields. Ohio State. player. 812. Pick Analysis

For a split second this year, it seemed like maybe Gardner Minshew could be the guy in Jacksonville. After that fleeting moment, it became crystal clear that the Jacksonville Jaguars needed to draft a quarterback.

Most likely ending up with the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jags should have one of the top two quarterbacks and here they land Justin Fields. While Ohio State has really never produced an NFL quarterback, Fields could change that.

He possesses dual-threat abilities and plays a similar style to what we’ve witnessed from Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson. If the Jaguars are in fact going through a complete rebuild, which seems to be the case, Fields is the right pick here to kick start that. Given the weapons in Jacksonville with Robinson, Chark and Laviska Shenault, there is a lot to like about this situation for both Fields and the Jags.

Round 1, Pick 26

OL. Wyatt Davis. 812. Scouting Report. Ohio State. 1. player. Pick Analysis

Adding a quarterback is one thing, but ensuring he is protected is a whole separate issue to address. Outside of Jawaan Taylor at right tackle, who was a 2019 second-round pick, the Jaguars could use an upgrade at every position on the line if the right player becomes available.

With this pick, the best player available just happens to be familiar with blocking for Fields, being Wyatt Davis from Ohio State. Davis was regarded as the best guard entering the season and his performance in 2020 has only strengthened his case.

Adding two offensive building blocks in the first round of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jaguars are already looking much improved on the offensive side of the ball, but that’s only half the battle.
