New York Jets seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft: Tearing it down
By Josh Berg
Round 1, Pick 25
The Seahawks gave up a fortune to bring Jamal Adams over to Seattle from New York. Doing this deal gave Joe Douglas a nice cushion of draft picks to rebuild this team from the bottom up over the next few seasons. The first of those draft choices is this one.
If the Jets want to be successful and not waste the gift they have been given with Trevor Lawrence, they have to hit on these draft picks. Horn here in the latter portion of round one is one of the best values in the first round. Horn is easily a top 20 player in this class who could go as high as the top ten this April.
The New York Jets have struggled in many areas defensively, and one of their better defensive players, Brian Poole, is a pending free agent after this season. In an already weak and struggling secondary, New York has to make an impact move on the back-end to try and stay competitive in a tough AFC conference.
Horn is a really technically gifted defensive back who has great press man coverage skills. His build is perfect for a boundary corner at 6-foot-1 and just north of 200 pounds. Because of his built frame, he has great strength to keep opposing receivers in check and slow their release down at the line of scrimmage. He will be a perfect corner for the New York Jets to try and continue to reshape their struggling defense.
