Philadelphia Eagles 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft: Solving need for speed
Round 2, 38th Overall
The 2020 season hasn’t gone as smoothly for Shaun Wade as he would have liked and luckily for Eagles fans, that could cause him to fall outside of the first round and into their laps at 38th overall.
After spending most of his time in the slot for the Buckeyes in his first two seasons, Wade has taken on the challenge of shifting to play the boundary for his senior year where he has experienced some growing pains. That being said, Wade has seemingly settled in as of late, playing some good football down the stretch of the season.
He has all of the speed and fluidity that you want at the position and he’s quick to diagnose what’s in front of him. If Wade ends up slipping a bit, he would give the Philadelphia Eagles an immediate plug-and-play addition to a secondary that is desperate for his size and versatility.
Round 3, 70th Overall
I can’t stress enough how much help the Eagles need in their secondary, so after the selection of Shaun Wade in the second round of this 2021 mock draft, I have Philly adding a speedy and highly productive safety out of Pittsburgh, Paris Ford.
Ford has been dominant on the backend of the Panthers’ defense, tallying six interceptions and 10 pass deflections in his last two seasons. He can cover a ton of space when tracking the ball downfield as well as when he’s coming downhill to help against the run.
That type of range is completely absent in the Philadelphia Eagles safety group at the moment so landing a guy with his traits would be a terrific addition.
