Jacksonville Jaguars: Possible first-round 2021 NFL Draft targets
Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State
The Jaguars’ extra first-round selection came from the Los Angeles Rams in the Jalen Ramsey trade. As of right now, that pick sits at No. 26 overall so we are going to look at prospects who will likely go in that range. Up first is Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth.
Freiermuth is a big and athletic tight end prospect who has an extremely well-rounded game that will translate well to the next level. Freiermuth is a smooth route-runner who can create space and also shines in contested-catch situations. He is a true matchup nightmare in the middle of the field who can stretch the field and also create after the catch. Freiermuth is also a strong and willing blocker who will shine in a traditional inline role.
The tight end position stands out as a major position of need for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Freiermuth is one of the best tight ends in the 2021 NFL Draft class. He undoubtedly needs to be on the radar late in the first round.
Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
Left tackle Cam Robinson will hit free agency this offseason and it will be interesting to see if they decide to bring him back. Robinson is a solid player at the position, but they will likely have to overpay him to bring him back in the fold. He is a solid player, but franchise left tackles are not cheap. Is Robinson worthy of a massive free-agent investment?
If the Jags decide to move on from Robinson, left tackle immediately stands out as a massive need for this team. In this scenario, targeting an offensive tackle with their late first-round pick would obviously make a ton of sense. Samuel Cosmi stands out as a great fit.
Cosmi is an extremely athletic offensive tackle prospect who shines in pass protection. He is a bit of a raw player, but his upside at the next level is absolutely massive. Pairing their new franchise quarterback with a franchise left tackle right away could be a path to success for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
