Looking at possible first-round 2021 NFL Draft targets for the Jacksonville Jaguars

Things do not look great for the Jacksonville Jaguars right now, but this team could quickly be on the rise and the 2021 NFL Draft will be a major reason why. We already know that the Jags will be looking for a new general manager and nobody would be surprised to see them move on from head coach Doug Marrone. However, if they can find the right guys to lead the team, they definitely have plenty of resources to work with.

Not only are the Jacksonville Jaguars loaded with cap space, but they are also loaded with 2021 NFL Draft capital. Add in the young and interesting pieces on the roster and there is a lot to like about the Jaguars going forward. At 1-11, there is obviously a lot of room for improvement here, but the Jaguars have the pieces in place needed to turn this around quickly and nailing both of their first-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft is a must.

In this post, we are going to look at some potential first-round targets for this team. Let’s start with the obvious one.

Quarterback

As of right now, the Jacksonville Jaguars hold the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and are unlikely to fall any further than that. Whether they end up jumping up to No. 1 or not, the Jags are likely to be in a great position to find a new franchise quarterback. Most of this post will be discussing the Jags’ options with their later first-round pick, but I wanted to quickly discuss the obvious pick at the top.

If they jump the New York Jets and pick at No. 1 overall, Trevor Lawrence will be the pick. If they stay at No. 2, Justin Fields should be the guy. Either way, the Jaguars would be able to add a high-level quarterback prospect who could come in and reshape the franchise. This is the obvious and easy move to make right at the top of the draft.
