2. San Francisco 49ers

Although Kyle Shanahan’s offense is certainly not the same as the Andy Reid/Doug Pederson offense, it’s an offense that most quarterbacks tend to thrive in.

The 49ers may not want to replace one injury-prone quarterback with another, but talent wise, Wentz is a massive upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo, and he offers more long-term upside as well.

Would the 49ers pull the plug on Jimmy GQ and go to a player like Wentz?

That wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

Wentz has four years of team control on his current contract. He’s going to count $15.4 million towards the cap of any team he is traded to in 2021. The 49ers could easily get out of Garoppolo’s deal, replace him with Wentz, and see what the Philly QB could do with their arsenal of weapons in the passing game.

In fairness to every receiver and tight end Wentz has played with, the 49ers’ skill position talent is far superior to what the Eagles have had since Wentz has been there with upside to be even better.

For the 49ers, a 1st-round pick is not anything to cling tightly to with the way their roster is currently constructed. If there is any chance they would use a top pick on the quarterback position, why not use it to get Carson Wentz?

This is a marriage that would be fascinating and the 49ers are going to be a really fun team to watch on the QB market in 2021.
