Round 2, 35th Overall

Tennessee. Trey Smith. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OL. 839. player

Adding Sewell to the mix would undoubtedly be a major step in the right direction, but this offensive line is a mess that needs help at multiple spots. In the second round of this mock draft, the Bengals double-up on the offensive line by bringing in Trey Smith out of Tennessee.

Smith has experience at the left tackle position but has taken his game to the next level on the inside in college. He is an absolute mauler up front who wins with incredible natural power at the point of attack. Smith is quick off of the ball, accurate with his hands and does a great job of keeping proper pad level throughout the block. He is also a strong pass protector who has the athleticism to kick back outside to tackle if needed.

Simply put, Smith is too talented of a prospect to ignore in this range. The Bengals have multiple needs across the offensive line and Smith is an exciting prospect who could provide immediate and long-term value for the franchise.

Round 3, 67th Overall

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Miami (FL). 834. Jaelan Phillips. 3. player

Jaelan Phillips is a former top recruit whose college career has not gone according to plan. That being said, Phillips has landed softly in Miami and has taken his game to the next level this season. Gregory Rousseau sitting out the season has opened up an opportunity for Phillips to shine this season and he has taken full advantage.

Through nine games, Phillips has piled up 7.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. He is a true impact player on the edge whose physical skill-set consistently shines through. With an incredible combination of size, power and athleticism, it is easy to see why Phillips was such a valued player out of high school. If he continues to put it all together at the next level, his ceiling on the edge is sky-high.
