Houston Texans: Eric Bieniemy (Kansas City Chiefs OC)

One of the major questions in the 2021 offseason is going to be — where does Eric Bieniemy land?

Bieniemy probably should have gotten a head coaching opportunity in the 2020 circuit, but he stayed with the Cheifs another year and is one of the likeliest head coach candidates again in 2021.

Interestingly enough, former Chiefs GM John Dorsey is also looking for a job, and the Houston Texans have vacancies both in the GM seat as well as at head coach.

This is a squad where it makes a ton of sense to hire the former Kansas City duo. Why?

DeShaun Watson.

Bieniemy might be motivated to take the highest-paying gig. He might be motivated to take a gig like the Jets where he can work with Trevor Lawrence. But if you had your pick of head coaching jobs in 2021, even with limited 2021 draft capital, you might want that Texans slot.

The Texans have the best quarterback of any team with a head coaching vacancy. The expectations are obviously going to be to win with Watson, but understanding their limitations in the 2021 offseason financially and draft-capital wise, it’s going to be understood that it will take some time to reload the roster elsewhere.

Bieniemy could come over from Kansas City, bring some guys like maybe Sammy Watkins or Demarcus Robinson with him, and get that offense humming.
