Jacksonville Jaguars: Brian Daboll (Buffalo Bills OC)

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Dave Caldwell, but head coach Doug Marrone’s job has been safe.

At least, for the time being.

Including his couple of games as the interim head coach a few years back, Doug Marrone’s record at the helm of the Jaguars is 23-39, and that includes an AFC Championship game appearance during the Jaguars’ 10-6 2017 season.

Marrone will land on his feet if the Jaguars let him go, and Jacksonville will undoubtedly need to bring someone in that would validate letting go of a coach like Marrone.

Brian Daboll has been doing an excellent job as an offensive coordinator in recent years, spending a successful year with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017 working under Nick Saban before joining Sean McDermott’s staff in 2018.

There at the Senior Bowl in 2018, McDermott and Daboll obviously liked what they saw out of Josh Allen, whom they traded up for in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Allen’s NFL career got off to a rocky start but McDermott and Daboll believed in the process and they have seen Allen develop into an NFL MVP candidate.

In Jacksonville, the Jaguars would have their pick of at least three of the top four quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft, if they don’t wind up with the top pick and Trevor Lawrence.

Getting Daboll to work with a young quarterback and perhaps bring an experienced defensive coordinator along with him, the Jaguars could build with some of the top 2021 draft capital in the entire league.
