2021 NFL Draft prospects for New York Jets to pair with Trevor Lawrence

After blowing a win, it seems all but certain that the New York Jets will land Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft, but who should they pair with him? While Lawrence is impressive and has the ability to turn around a team, he can’t do it alone.

As each week passes it seems more clear that the Jets will receive the first pick and that Lawrence is the player that will be written on the card. Even when the Jets seem like they have a win, they find a way to remain 0-and-whatever, but they will very clearly need more than just Lawrence.

Beginning with the head coach, the Jets could have a complete overhaul this offseason. Drafting Lawrence is likely to lead to a trade involving Sam Darnold that should help the rebuilding process, but there are countless holes on the roster.

Luckily, the Jets already have two picks in the first round. They also hold the Seattle Seahawks’ first round pick which they received in the Jamal Adams trade. Whether or not it was worth it is a completely different discussion, but nonetheless the New York Jets will enter the 2021 NFL Draft with at least two first round picks.

So focusing on that pick and their second round pick, which is playing out to be the 33rd selection in the draft, what players should the Jets focus on trying to add in addition to Trevor Lawrence? They need help on both sides of the ball, but for Lawrence to have success he needs weapons to throw to and that’s where the Jets can look to this year. The win total will depend on the defense, but the growth of Lawrence will depend on his coaching and weapons, and that’s the more important factor for the Jets in the upcoming season.
