2021 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears trade up for QB in two-round mock draft
We don’t know who will be coaching the Detroit Lions in 2021, but they will certainly need to fill some holes. This team competes week after week, but the roster is not very strong. There are many positions of need, so the Lions go with the guy who might be the most talented player in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ja’Marr Chase has arguably been the best wide receiver in college football ever since he stepped foot onto LSU’s campus. He just does everything you need from a wide receiver. He’s not the biggest. He’s not the fastest. But he always finds a way to get the job done.
He is really outstanding at the line of scrimmage. He is sudden off the snap with quick feet and impressive burst to create early separation. Throughout his route, he is incredibly smooth, understanding leverage and getting into position to make a play. He is also incredible at the catch point, going up to get any ball that is catchable.
Kenny Golladay was a nice find for the Lions, but he has suffered some injuries this season and Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola aren’t getting any younger. Whether it is Matthew Stafford under center or someone else, whoever is playing quarterback would love to have a player like Chase to throw to.
With Golladay, Hockenson, and Chase, the Lions’ passing game would really be looking up. They just missed out on the top quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft if they were interested in going that direction, but a receiver like Chase would help any passer succeed.
