Scouting Report. Center. player. 124. Pick Analysis. Oklahoma. Creed Humphrey. 30

Creed Humphrey and the Kansas City Chiefs was a pairing that a saw mocked quite a bit last year at the end of the first round. After Humphrey returned to Oklahoma for his senior season, Chiefs center Austin Reiter hasn’t done much to change things.

Humphrey has continued to be one of the best centers in the nation, so I think Brett Veach, Andy Reid, and Patrick Mahomes would welcome him with arms wide open.

Humphrey is a thick, powerful mauler in the middle of the line. He is great at engaging and completely turning defenders to open holes in the run game. It seems like more often than not, the defender that Humphrey is blocking ends up pancaked on the ground.

In pass protection, Humphrey has the same effect. He does not budge, no matter who is rushing him. His low center of gravity and strong hands allow him to stand defenders straight up and power them back.

In Oklahoma’s offense, Humphrey often had to get out in space and go find a man to block, a skill that will come in handy in Andy Reid’s creative offensive schemes. Lead blocking on screens, getting to the second level in the run game… Humphrey can do it all.

Mahomes would surely love to have a player like Creed Humphrey as his battery mate. He is smart, physical, powerful, and impactful in every aspect of the game and is the number one center in the 2021 NFL Draft.
