2021 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears trade up for QB in two-round mock draft
Similar to the Tennessee Titans, the Buffalo Bills defense has quickly gone from a strength to a weakness. They have struggled across the board this year, but they really haven’t gotten great cornerback play.
Buffalo seems like a great landing spot for Ohio State corner, Shaun Wade. Wade had served as the nickel corner for the Buckeyes the past few seasons before being pushed to the boundary for his senior season in 2020.
As a slot corner, Wade was viewed as a potential first-round pick last year. Now after some growing pains, it looks as though Wade is showing that he can play effectively on the outside as well.
Wade is a physical corner who will stay attached to his receiver throughout the route. He is effective at the catch point, breaking up pass after pass that comes his way. He’s not a burner, but he stays with some of the best receivers that college football has to offer in the Big Ten.
Wade is a versatile player who can blitz off the edge, lock down a receiver in man coverage or make a break on the ball in zone coverage like a safety. He has great ball skills and solid hands to come down with interceptions.
The Buffalo Bills could deploy Wade in a variety of ways. If they think he can handle it, they could have him on the outside opposite of Tre’Davious White. If they like how he played in the slot, he could be the nickel with Josh Norman or Levi Wallace playing on the boundary.
Wade has proven that he can contribute to a defense in a variety of ways and his versatility would be welcomed by Sean McDermott and the Buffalo Bills in the 2021 NFL Draft.
