Pick Analysis. South Carolina. 23. player. 30. Scouting Report. Cornerback. Jaycee Horn

We have another trade! After getting jumped for the last (in my opinion) first-round quarterback, the Colts take a flier on a former third-overall pick. I believe that Indianapolis would be a great landing spot for Sam Darnold, allowing him to start fresh on a team that is already performing at a high level.

Whether he comes in and plays right away or spends a year behind Philip Rivers (if he decides to continue playing and re-signs) this change of scenery would be good for Darnold. I still believe he has what it takes to be a solid NFL quarterback and would really get the chance to prove it.

The Jets, on the other hand, are clearly done with Darnold and will surely be drafting a quarterback no matter where their pick lands in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. With Trevor Lawrence heading to New York in this mock, they take what they can get for Darnold and select again towards the end of the first round.

With the move, the Jets are able to land a potential shutdown corner. Something their defense is severely lacking. Jaycee Horn had a coming-out party against Auburn this year, putting his name on the map for draft evaluators.

Horn is a big, physical corner with great ball skills. He is a confident player who takes on any challenge that comes at him. He seems to thrive when going against a top receiver like Auburn’s Seth Williams.

Using his size and strength, Horn is physical with his receiver throughout the route. Whether it is in press or at the catch point, Horn is going to let you know he’s there. As the ball is approaching is when Horn really shines. He has great ball skills and always finds a way to get his hand between the receiver’s.

At South Carolina, Horn played quite a bit of zone coverage, allowing him to read and react and make a play on the ball. So like the other corners already drafted, Horn will be able to play both man and zone with great success, giving the Jets a piece that they desperately need on defense.
