18. 26. Scouting Report. Wide Receiver. Rashod Bateman. player. Pick Analysis. Minnesota

This may be another scenario where the offense might not pass the ball enough to warrant taking a receiver at this juncture, but I think Rashod Bateman is exactly the type of receiver that Lamar Jackson needs across from Hollywood Brown.

While the Ravens thrive when dominating on the ground, their offense is rendered ineffective when the team is down and Jackson is forced to throw. If Baltimore had a guy like Bateman to throw the ball up to, however, it may be a different story.

Rashod Bateman has been the ultimate “go get it” wide receiver in college football the last few seasons. If you throw the ball in his direction, it seems like nine times out of ten he’s going to come down with the catch.

His ability to pinpoint and go up and get the ball at its peak is phenomenal. He always knows exactly when to jump to make the perfect play on the ball. He has incredible hands, coming down with contested-catch after contested catch. The one-handed catches that this guy has made could fill an entire highlight video on their own.

That ability makes him a terrorizing weapon in the red zone and very effective on fades down the sideline. While he may not be the most polished route runner in the 2021 NFL Draft, he knows how to get himself in position to make a play, and has the speed to finish off plays as well.

With Bateman, Brown, Devin Duvernay, Mark Andrews, and his plethora of running backs, Lamar Jackson would have plenty of dynamic weapons that he could rely on when he has to throw. The Ravens may want to bolster their offensive line for their run-heavy offense, but Bateman is too good to pass up.
