Philadelphia Eagles: 3 first-round prospects the team must target
The Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback unit right now has stood up decently to the test of at least not allowing a ton of yardage in 2020.
They rank 8th in the NFL in total yards allowed through the air and third in passing touchdowns allowed.
With that said, looking over the Eagles’ roster and it’s plain to see that the cornerback position is a significant area of weakness, even with the presence of veteran Darius Slay.
The Eagles, as a team, have three interceptions in 11 games in 2020. That’s an unacceptable figure and shockingly only ranks second-worst in the NFL.
Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley could help turn that group around in a hurry.
Even though he may not be the most technically refined prospect at cornerback in this draft class, Farley has some of the best all-around tools physically and athletically. He also proved in a short amount of time transitioning from wide receiver to cornerback that he is a playmaker who knows how to use his size to his advantage and get his hands on the ball.
Farley had six interceptions and 19 pass breakups on his own over the last two seasons at Virginia Tech and even though he opted out of the 2020 season, he could be the top cornerback off the board in the class of 2021.
