One year after using their top pick on right tackle Tristan Wirfs, the Buccaneers turn around and use their top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on left tackle Samuel Cosmi.

2015 second-round pick Donovan Smith has one year remaining on his deal after this season, and at this point it’s hard to know if he’s going to be worth the $14.25 million price tag, especially with no dead cap attached to it.

The Buccaneers will have to at least consider the possibility that they could upgrade on Smith this offseason and Cosmi has played well enough to deserve that kind of consideration.

Heading into this season, the Texas left tackle was considered to be a player with some of the highest upside at his position as a big-time athlete with some really great reps on tape, but also some confusing lapses and inconsistencies.

If he can clean it all up, he’s got the potential to be a good player for a really long time in the NFL and in this scenario, he’d give the Bucs a very athletic duo of tackles to build around on the offensive line.
