Trevor Lawrence was throwing dimes in return for Clemson.

Unfortunately for the Pittsburgh Panthers, Trevor Lawrence returned to the field on Saturday and it was like he never left it.

Lawrence has been out for a total of five weeks due to the college football COVID-19 protocols, and his return to the field was a triumphant one.

Clemson destroyed Pitt 52-17, and Lawrence was up to his old tricks.

After being recognized as a senior on Clemson’s senior day (Lawrence is just a junior), he lit up the Pitt defense with 403 yards through the air and a pair of passing touchdowns.

Not including this one, which was called back.

Lawrence has done nothing but firmly entrench his status as the best quarterback and best player in college football since he campaigned for this season to be played. He does everything so well but Lawrence clearly puts the time in to prepare and make himself better.

He’s not doing this on talent alone.

Lawrence has all of the physical, tangible qualities, but he has the intangible qualities that make him a truly special NFL prospect.

The New York Jets may not know who is going to be their head coach right now, but they have to be hoping at this point for the losing to continue to the point that they can draft Lawrence with the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Despite how truly awesome Lawrence has been throughout three seasons at Clemson, the game against Pitt was only the second time he’s thrown for over 400 yards as a Tiger.

The other 400-yard game was in mid-October against Georgia Tech.

Lawrence stated after the game that it’s been “the plan” this season for it to be his last at Clemson, and as historically bad as the New York Jets have been, there’s no reason to think he would delay leaving for the NFL at this point.

He looks like he’s been ready for Sundays for a while.
