Ranking the Lions, Texans, Falcons job openings for 2021 coach/GM prospects.

The Detroit Lions have joined the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons as NFL teams to fire not only their head coach but general manager as well mid-season.

The Lions were destroyed by the Houston Texans on their home field on Thanksgiving Day, and just two days later, both Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn have been relieved of their duties.

Under Matt Patricia’s reign, the Lions had a record of 13-29-1.

Unfortunately, this is just the latest in a long cycle of a lack of any sort of real success for the Detroit Lions.

The team had a couple of double-digit win seasons with Matthew Stafford (2011, 2014) and a couple of nine-win seasons (2016, 17) but they have been among the NFL’s worst teams over the past three years, and ownership has seen enough.

These three jobs (Detroit, Atlanta, Houston) won’t be the last three to open up around the league, no question about it. The New York Jets will likely at the very least be looking for a new head coach. Other teams around the league will consider the alternatives, but for now, these are teams with openings at both head coach and general manager.

How do these jobs stack up against each other for prospecting coaches and GMs?

Let’s rank the openings factoring in the current rosters as well as future financial and draft capital.
