Michael Pittman Jr. is yet another great rookie wide receiver

Add the name Michael Pittman Jr. to the list of great young NFL receivers.

No position in the NFL is more loaded with young and exciting talent than wide receiver. There has been a ton of talent at the position entering the league in recent years, highlighted by guys like D.K. Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, A.J. Brown, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and Chase Claypool. Indianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. has been taking his game to the next level in recent weeks and may be the next name to add to that list.

Pittman was taken early in the second round (34th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Michael Pittman Jr. entered the league as a big and athletic passing game weapon out of USC and is really starting to show what he can do on the field.

The USC product struggled with a lower leg injury earlier in the year, missing the Colts’ three games prior to their Week 7 bye. Since Pittman has been back, he has taken his game to the next level, particularly the last two weeks. In Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans, hauled in 7-of-8 targets for 101 yards. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, Pittman caught all three of his targets for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Simply put, Pittman is quickly becoming the most consistent and explosive weapon in the Colts’ passing attack and we should expect him to see a larger target share going forward. The Colts are not exactly loaded with an explosive group of offensive playmakers, making a guy like Pittman even more important for them going forward.

Pittman’s combination of size and speed makes him a dangerous weapon on the field for the Colts. He is a fantastic big-play receiver who also shows impressive jump-ball skills and can create after the catch. Pittman is starting to show off his impressively well-rounded skill-set and the sky is the limit as his role continues to expand. Take notice of Pittman, his stock around the league is about to soar.
