Washington Football Team top pick

As outlined in the previous slide, the Washington Football Team has created a need at the quarterback position.

They have made it obvious either that Dwayne Haskins is not the guy or they don’t believe he can learn best on the job.

For a rebuilding team offensively, especially one with a need for talent on the offensive line, could North Dakota State’s Trey Lance be a good fit?

Lance is going to be a fascinating projection wherever he goes. Although the NDSU quarterback has tremendous arm talent and the ability to make plays as a passer, he’s much more refined and dangerous as a runner.

Lance has solid pocket poise and runs plenty of pro-style concepts for the Bison, so the tools are clearly there. How will he adjust to the speed of the NFL game and that kind of pressure? When faced with complex blitz packages against Central Arkansas, Lance played probably one of his worst games we’ve seen in a somewhat limited sample size. With that said, he still managed to account for four touchdowns.

Although they are not the same player, Lance’s projection to the NFL could follow the same path and trajectory of Josh Allen (Buffalo) who was afforded the opportunity to learn and grow on the job while making his legs an asset to help the team string together wins despite his poor passing.
