Denver Broncos: Three-round 2021 NFL mock draft recap.

The Denver Broncos are in a fascinating position through 10 games of the 2020 season.

With a 4-6 record, the Broncos are among the bottom half of the NFL right now, but they are also breaking in the youngest offense in the league with new offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, and they have dealt with a ton of major injuries on both sides of the ball in addition to all of the COVID-19 obstacles along the way.

The Broncos’ 4-6 record is reasonable considering their key losses of players like Von Miller and Courtland Sutton this season, but quarterback Drew Lock is the real question mark for this team right now.

Lock has proven he can lead the Broncos to wins as a game manager. He’s led them to a historic comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers. He became the youngest QB to win a game at Gillette Stadium against the Patriots. He is the first quarterback in league history to have 300 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first road start (@ Houston Texans, 2019).

He’s proven he has all of the talent you could ask for from the quarterback position. He’s a tough leader who has the respect of his teammates.

With that said, Lock has also made some highly questionable decisions with the football. He has thrown at least one interception in six straight games. The Broncos will have a huge decision in the 2021 offseason of whether they are going to let Lock continue to grow in the Pat Shurmur offense and hope things click for him, or if they are going to get a hedge and try to push Lock ASAP.

The latest three-round 2021 mock draft from Dan Schmelzer has the Broncos going after defense in round one, but taking a shot on a quarterback in round two. Let’s analyze the selections he made playing the role of John Elway.
