2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 24th Overall

Pick Analysis. QB. Alabama. Mac Jones. player. Scouting Report. 24. 46

Mac Jones has made many of us believers this season, leading the Alabama offense to consistent success. Many had looked at Jones as more of a game-manager entering the year, but he has pushed the ball down the field well and should be taken seriously as a possible first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jones is a smart passer who is not going to unnecessarily force the ball and shows impressive poise in the pocket. He has a quick release and consistently throws with great anticipation. Jones does not have the biggest arm around, but he has pushed the ball down the field much better than any of us have expected this season. He has solid arm strength, showing the ability to hit nearly any throw on the field.

The Indianapolis Colts are an extremely talented team, but they do not have a long-term answer at the quarterback position. Until they find the right guy, their ceiling is going to be limited. The Colts may continue to go the veteran route at quarterback, but taking a shot on a guy like Jones in this range could certainly make some sense as well.

Jones is not a top-tier quarterback prospect like the guys taken earlier, but he is a good football player who is worthy of a pick in this range. Jones could easily end up being QB5 in this class and that could make him a first-round selection.
