2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 16th Overall

player. Pick Analysis. Wyatt Davis. 60. Scouting Report. IOL. Ohio State. 16

Ohio State offensive guard Wyatt Davis is one of the most fun prospects to watch in the 2021 NFL Draft class. He is a big and powerful offensive lineman who absolutely dominates at the point of attack and consistently overwhelms opposing defensive lineman. Davis is undoubtedly a power-based player, but he does show solid movement skills as well.

The Minnesota Vikings will probably be looking to make some sort of move at the quarterback position over the offseason, but that opportunity simply is not available with this pick. Instead, the Vikings snag Davis, beefing up their interior offensive line and continuing to build the offense around star running back Dalvin Cook.

Davis certainly has plenty of value as a pass blocker, but his real value comes in the run game. He consistently fires off of the ball quickly, explodes into the defender with powerful hands, does a great job of playing with proper pad level and finishes the block with authority. He can easily take care of first-level defenders and has the movement skills need to attack the second level as well.

Until they can make a significant improvement at the quarterback position, the Vikings should continue to build their offense around Cook and the power rushing attack. Davis is the best interior offensive lineman in the 2021 NFL Draft class and would be an absolutely perfect fit for the Vikings’ offense.
