Denver Broncos 2021 mock draft: Is Drew Lock still the guy?
4. Fourth round: Alaric Jackson, OL, Iowa
The Denver Broncos have had some great success with Iowa Hawkeyes players in recent years.
2018 fourth-round pick Josey Jewell has developed nicely into a solid inside linebacker for Vic Fangio’s defense.
In 2019, the Broncos picked tight end Noah Fant 20th overall, and he has emerged as one of the NFL’s top young pass catchers at the position.
In 2020, the Broncos then used a third-round pick on Michael Ojemudia, who looks like he will be a starter for this team for the foreseeable future.
Alaric Jackson is almost too perfect of a fit for the Broncos’ current needs on the offensive line. With top backup Elijah Wilkinson set to hit free agency, Jackson could be the ideal hedge as a tackle/guard.
The Broncos also have to figure out what they will do with Garett Bolles beyond this season. The fourth-year left tackle has taken a huge step forward in 2020.
With Bolles’ contract situation in question and Ja’Wuan James missing most of 2019 and all of 2020 (opt-out), depth on the offensive line is essential in 2021.
