2021 NFL Draft: Jets, Jaguars make trades in new 2021 NFL mock draft

Jets trade up for #1 receiver for Lawrence
The New York Jets currently hold the Seattle Seahawks first pick and here they package that pick, being #29, and Sam Darnold, among other pieces, and trade them to the San Francisco 49ers for the seventh pick in the draft.
If anyone has been hit hard by injuries it’s the San Francisco 49ers. Even when healthy, Jimmy Garoppolo has struggled this season, so by moving down in the first round they acquire Darnold who provides competition in the quarterback room as well as other assets.
As for the Jets, they add a much-needed weapon for Trevor Lawrence. Ja’Marr Chase is the top wide receiver in a deep class, but his downfield ability paired with Lawrence could be lethal. The Cincinnati Bengals took Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins last year which has worked out well. Here, the Jets try to replicate that connection, but do so with a much better wide receiver. I’m not sure there has been a rookie duo that would have as much potential as Lawrence and Chase.
While the two young stars would be great additions in New York, it won’t mean anything if they can’t find the right head coach this time. They missed horribly on Adam Gase and have to do much better this time. Otherwise, Lawrence could be a wasted young talent and Chase would be right there with him.
