Secondary help arrives for the Chargers

The 2020 season for the Chargers has been a roller coaster. While they should have more wins than they do, it could work out in the end if they are able to land a top draft pick. The team is in a very minor rebuild, but there are definite high points for this franchise to focus on.

They’ve also been able to have their success without Derwin James and Chris Harris, but in their division adding another cornerback will be a need regardless. Facing the Chiefs, Broncos and Raiders who are building fast and deep wide receiver corps will push the Chargers to adapt and add secondary assistance.

Caleb Farley is widely regarded as one of the best defensive backs in the 2021 NFL Draft and would be a perfect complement to the Chargers’ secondary. With Harris and Casey Hayward in place, Farley wouldn’t be required to play as the top corner, but instead could rotate amongst the group to keep everyone has fresh as possible against players like Tyreek Hill and Jerry Jeudy.

While at Virginia Tech, Farley was all over the field making plays. Whether it was a tackle, pass defended or interceptions, Farley found a way to disrupt the game which is something the Chargers secondary could use a boost from.
