Could the New York Giants take an offensive tackle in the top four two years in a row? It is certainly possible. With Lawrence and Fields off the board, the Giants can decide to move forward with Daniel Jones and build around him.
Andrew Thomas has struggled a bit in terms of adjusting to the NFL level and adding Penei Sewell could ease that pain. Sewell is one of the best offensive lineman to enter the draft in a long time and is a player that could alter the course of the Giants’ offense.
Placing Sewell at left tackle would allow Thomas to slide over to right tackle and give the Giants one of the better young tackle tandems in the league. It would also allow the team to move on from Nate Solder who opted out this season.
While the Giants have invested heavily in the offensive line lately, they have yet to see the return. They are still one of the worst blocking lines in football and Sewell is regarded as a near can’t miss prospect. With young players in the backfield in both Jones and Saquon Barkley, the Giants need to make sure they can buy time in the passing game and create lanes in the run game. Sewell can do both.
