Chiefs reinvest in the pass rush

Scouting Report. DE. Penn State. player. Pick Analysis. Jayson Oweh. 30. 124

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a lot from their pass rush over the last few years. First, it was the departure of Dee Ford that was replaced with the arrival of Frank Clark. Then, they added Emmanuel Ogbah, but Ogbah is in Miami now and it doesn’t feel like they’ve found a replacement on the other side of Clark. Tanoh Kpassagnon is listed on the depth chart, but drafting a player to fill that role is something that makes a lot of sense for a team with few needs.

As for Jayson Oweh, he’s been one of the players at Penn State that has stepped up in the absence of Micah Parsons on the defensive side of the ball. In just the three games that Penn State has played, Oweh already has 18 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. He has yet to register a sack this year but logged five during the 2019 season.

The 2019 season was a year where Oweh was almost just a pass rush specialist. In addition to his five sacks, he was able to tally five tackles for loss but only had 21 tackles. He’s made strides in the tackle department this year which has played a large part in his draft stock rising.
