Patrick Peterson gains an apprentice

Scouting Report. player. 32. Pick Analysis. CB. Ohio State. Shaun Wade. 27

This would be the latest pick for the first Ohio State defensive back in a few years, but there’s still plenty of time for Shaun Wade to increase his draft stock. For now, he ends up in Arizona with a team known for producing top talent at the defensive back positions.

The Cardinals have been able to cycle through players and keep their secondary at the top of the league. Patrick Peterson has been the mainstay with players like Tyrann Mathieu and now Budda Baker roaming the middle of the field. Baker was essentially brought in to fill the void of Mathieu. For now, Wade would play opposite Peterson. However, Peterson will be 31-years old when the 2021 season begins, so this could be a changing of the guard over time.

Wade will need an impressive 2020 campaign to secure first-round status, but his potential is intriguing enough for the Cardinals to draft him regardless. As it currently stands, the Cardinals now have Dre Kirkpatrick and Johnathan Joseph in addition to Peterson, meaning there could be plenty of veteran leadership at the position to guide Wade in the transition to the NFL and improving his game to adapt to the next level.
