2021 NFL Draft: Jets, Jaguars make trades in new 2021 NFL mock draft

Titans replace Clowney
Jadeveon Clowney signed a one-year with the Titans and has had an influential role in the defense. However, he could very well leave in the offseason to once again seek a lucrative long-term deal. He’s benefited the Titans and might now have a better chance of getting paid.
One thing that could come out of this for the Titans is a drive to add a player like Clowney. Seeing what he can do could push Tennessee to find their own long-term answer for the position, but at a cheaper rate than what Clowney will be asking. This is where Carlos Basham Jr. comes in.
At 6’5″ 285, Basham has the frame to fill the role of Clowney, but it goes beyond his size. During the 2019 season, Basham logged 10 sacks while adding 18.5 tackles for loss to his stat line. So far in 2020, he has five sacks through five games with four tackles for loss as well.
The area that Basham would need to improve would be his ability to drop back in coverage. He only has eight passes defended over his career at Wake Forest, but with a head coach in Mike Vrabel who did that for the better part of 14 NFL seasons, Basham should be able to learn pretty quickly.
