2021 NFL Draft: Jets, Jaguars make trades in new 2021 NFL mock draft

As the NFL surpasses the midpoint of the season, we take a new look at the 2021 NFL Draft

The NFL season is past the half-way point and with that comes a more clear vision of the 2021 NFL Draft. Now halfway through the schedule, we have a much better grasp of the standings and with that, the draft order.

The order for this mock draft comes from the current NFL standings paired with my projections for how the second half of the season will unfold. There’s still plenty of unknowns to be settled and the order will definitely shift around, especially when the playoffs begin to have an impact.

Regardless, the needs for each team remain the same and their draft position should at least be in the realm of where they pick in this mock draft.

I also decided to add trades to this mock draft. While there are only a couple, they are ones that could shake the order and how the draft unfolds. Normally, mock drafts with trades like to show five or more trades in some cases because it makes it more fun and interesting.

However, last year there were a total of four trades in the first round, but three of the four came in picks 23 through 26 and included the movement of seven first-round picks. That doesn’t include trades that happened prior to the draft, like the Colts trading the 13th pick to the 49ers.

While those trades will be fun to talk about, they are much easier to project during the offseason. At this point, we kept the trades simple and to the point. There will be plenty of time to talk draft trades and who could move around.

With that, we’ll jump into the new and improved 2021 NFL mock draft with none other than the New York Jets on the clock to get things going.
