2021 NFL Draft: New mock draft with Justin Fields, Zach Wilson rising
The Los Angeles Chargers are set offensively for the foreseeable future.
Justin Herbert looks like an awesome pick, and if the Chargers could simply close out games, we might be talking about a true challenger for the Chiefs in the AFC West.
Okay, the Raiders deserve to be in that conversation as well.
Defensively, the Chargers need to do some reloading.
They have the ability to create pressure up front with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram off the edge, but the cornerback position might need to be upgraded.
They just traded Desmond King for peanuts, Chris Harris Jr. hasn’t been healthy, and Casey Hayward is on the wrong side of 30.
Caleb Farley is a unicorn of an athlete at the cornerback position at 6-foot-2, 200-plus pounds. In two seasons for the Hokies, he showed off his playmaking ability with six interceptions.
The return of Derwin James (hopefully) and the potential addition of Farley would give the Chargers a huge boost defensively to help close out games.
