2021 NFL Draft: New mock draft with Justin Fields, Zach Wilson rising
The Kansas City Chiefs are jerks for even the possibility that this could happen.
But the Chiefs have Travis Kelce! They don’t need a tight end!
While for the immediate future this may be true, Kelce is going to be 32 next season. He’s showing no signs of slowing down by any means, but the Cheifs could be losing other key offensive skill players to free agency in 2021.
Andy Reid has not done a lot with you multiple tight ends because he has had such tremendous personnel at receiver, but with Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the mix and the speed of Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman, Freiermuth could be a great fourth option for them in the passing game starting in 2021 and really take even more pressure off of guys who are already running wide open most of the time.
The Chiefs could add pieces defensively, but they invested half a billion dollars in Patrick Mahomes. Freiermuth would be productive for them immediately and would be their TE1 whenever the time comes to move on from Kelce.
