2021 NFL Draft: Justin Fields, Zach Wilson rising in latest 2021 mock draft.
The 2021 NFL Draft may not have a guy throwing 60 touchdowns like Joe Burrow or a prospect as polarizing as Tua Tagovailoa, but the quarterbacks at the top of the 2021 class will be absolutely fascinating.
After missing two games with COVID-19, Trevor Lawrence will soon return to the field to further fortify his position as the best quarterback prospect to come along at least since Andrew Luck in 2012, and he might even be a superior player than Luck was coming out.
There has been a proverbial “gap” between Lawrence and the other quarterbacks in the 2021 class, but that gap has been closing since the Big Ten returned to play.
Ohio State’s Justin Fields has been a marvel in the early goings of his 2020 season. In three games, he has more total touchdowns (11 passing, two rushing) than he does incomplete passes (11).
Incredibly, a couple of those pass es of Fields’ that have hit the ground were dropped touchdowns.
He has been playing unbelievably well, but so has BYU’s Zach Wilson.
Wilson has steadily put together a Heisman-caliber campaign with a 75 percent completion rate, 21 touchdowns through the air, and eight touchdowns as a runner. He has just two interceptions.
These three quarterbacks are going to likely shake up the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, which will also include a player in Trey Lance who is likely to be this year’s version of Jordan Love — a player with clear first-round abilities who may need more time to develop.
How might the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft look halfway through the NFL season?
