Third round: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC

The Chargers obviously need to emphasize the offensive line with so many starters hitting free agency. This year’s draft class may not have a ton of guys at the top giving it the feel of the 2020 NFL Draft, which was loaded with offensive line prospects in the early rounds, but the middle rounds could provide nice value.

Alijah Vera-Tucker is a solid pass protector and run blocker on the interior line who could slide right in next to Samuel Cosmi to provide Justin Herbert with blindside protection for the next decade of his career.

It’s also possible the Chargers would try to re-sign some of their interior guys, but there is a decent chance they could have at least three starting positions open in 2021.

After opting back in for the USC 2020 season, Vera-Tucker could ultimately put enough on tape to price himself out of the Chargers’ third-round range here. Some already like him as a round two prospect.

Getting him here in round three could potentially be a steal.
