The 2020 season has been a struggle for the Minnesota Vikings and if the season ended right now they would have a top-five selection. With Kirk Cousins on a costly deal, the team might look to trade down with a team looking to land a “falling” quarterback or even a wide receiver.

The Vikings have playmakers on their roster, that isn’t the issue. Their defense has just struggled to keep up with the high powered teams they are facing. Having to deal with Aaron Rodgers twice a year with pretty much all rookies at cornerback creates an uphill battle from the start.

Unfortunately, the Vikings won’t able to draft experience, which is where a trade might come in. Perhaps they decide to move down in the first round, or out of it completely, to add a veteran to their defense that’s proven and can get them back on track.

Unlike most teams that end up in the top five, Minnesota has a lot of pieces already in place. It’s just that the players they don’t have are glaring. If they can solve those, they should be right back in the division race, but to do that might mean trading down in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
